Manager Job Description

The Joint Mount Vernon (JointMV) is seeking a BOH Manager who enjoys fast-paced, exciting, quick service restaurant work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the service lines of kitchen, along with kitchen preparation.
  • Make sure the restaurant and kitchen are in compliance with the Health Department Regulations and Standards. Knowledge of those rules and regulations. Maintaining at least a Level 1 Ohio Certification in Food Protection.
  • Keep areas stocked with food & cleaning supplies, rotate/date all stock. 
  • Prepares all food items in rapid and accurate manner. Ensure quality food product and presentation.
  • Provide coverage on all stations needed to facilitate employee breaks.
  • Work with Front of House Managers and staff to ensure positive guest experiences.
  • Teach and develop staff while serving a consistent product with pride.
  • Maintain food cost, labor cost and expenses within budget guidelines.
  • Must be able to cook and create new, innovative and imaginative recipes.
  • Maximize employee moral through leading by example in embodying The Joint culture. Provide the tools, guidance and support needed to enable all employees to deliver the highest guest service.  
  • Must have a positive and professional interaction and relationship with all management team members.
  • Consistently demonstrate excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Assist co-workers as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point (or similar programs).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
  • Minimum two years high-volume Food & Beverage experience.
  • Minimum one year supervisory experience.
  • Must be congenial and have neat, professional appearance with good personal hygiene.
  • Must be reliable and conscientious.
  • Possess the ability to interact (in English) with guests, co-workers and supervisory staff.
  • Must be accuracy and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to act quick and exercise good judgement under pressure and/or conflict situations.
