Director of Tastiness (Cook) Job Description

The Joint Mount Vernon (JointMV) is seeking Team Members who enjoy fast-paced and exciting restaurant work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare sautes, broiled, fried, baked, and grilled food items in accordance with kitchen specifications.
  • Perform various job duties that will include operation of a grill, fryer, broiler, oven, and French top in accordance with kitchen specifications.
  • Perform preliminary preparation work in a timely manner.
  • Ensures ingredient supply levels are accurate.
  • Transport items from shelving to assigned work stations for restocking purposes.
  • Maintain the required par of food items in their assigned station.
  • Understand proper safety and health codes; regulations; and maintain them regularly.
  • Ensure all areas assigned are clean and free of debris.
  • Monitor and maintain JointMV cleanliness, maintenance, and atmosphere.
  • Must have a positive and professional interaction and relationship with all management team members.
  • Consistently demonstrate excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Assist co-workers as needed.
  • Familiarize self with all menu items and explain food when necessary.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Culinary experience preferred.
  • General understanding of food and beverage operations.
  • Provide information that JointMV guests may have.
  • Must be congenial and have neat, professional appearance with good personal hygiene.
  • Must be reliable and conscientious.
  • Possess the ability to interact (in English) with guests, co-workers and supervisory staff.
  • Must be accuracy and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to act quick and exercise good judgement under pressure and/or conflict situations.
